SCENT OF SUCCESS!
By: Gregory George
FSB’s Giovanni Marquez is hoping that his duel signature fragrances Giovanni and Marquez will launch him to aroma stardom! Packaged in manly-sized 3.4 oz bottles, these two private label colognes were designed to not only compete with, but also KO his fragrance industry competitors.
Giovanni -- his daytime scent – is an inviting Tuscan mix of florals, spices and woodsy musk. Marquez – his evening scent – is a romantic blend of lavender, basil and lemon, with just a hint of geranium, cedar and sandalwood.
Giovanni recommends jazzing up your olfactory juices by mixing the two and creating you own unique scent! He also wants you to know that, while in Milan, he found time to sample some great Italian cuisine and inhale a bit of vino. Developing two prize winning sniffs expends a lot of calories – Right?

Hollywood Dads – And Fashion!

By Peter Caesar
Whether shopping for pop daddies – such as Brad Pitt, Will Smith, Hugh Jackman, Johnny Depp, Seal or Matt Damon – or your own hipster dad, listen up: FATHER’S DAY is just around the corner!
And what’s the best thing to reeve up Dad’s taste pallet on his big day? Forget the six pack. Try something he can wear!
Brad Pitt -- one of the of the most recognizable celeb dads in the world -- excels as a father and as one of American’s top fashion icons. The Ocean’s Thirteen star captures the paparazzi lens with his clean cut, good looks what ever he’s doing…whether it’s showing off fashion men’s wear -- or one of six kids.
As his family grows, so does Will Smith’s box office chic, evolving from Fresh Prince hipster to Independence Day casual glam. This proud poppa is now a Hollywood monument to men’s style.
X-Men star Hugh Jackman is another famous daddy dude who looks equally at home in a tuxedo or jeans. It’s easy to see why his lucky kids think he’s the bomb. (And that’s a good thing!)
How about Pirates of the Caribbean Johnny Depp and his offbeat design sense? This fatherly shopping meister is not afraid to mix men’s style and fashion trends. Also check out the Chocolate Factory man’s clearly great taste in footwear.
Singer Seal’s sleek, urban look elevates him to far more than arm candy for his Project Runway wife, Heidi Klum and their beautiful family. This sophisticated vocalist brings an orchestra of elegance to any of the suits he slips into.
And if men’s fashion tips are what dear ole dad needs, the go-to guy is Matt Damon. His well-tailored and casually contoured look on the big screen is a lesson all us roosters can learn from. In real life, The Bourne Ultimatum supremo can’t help but brag that he is one happy padre.
All this talk about Father’s Day fashion makes me want to blast up my grill and throw a backyard barbeque! Celeb pops welcome!

Sharp Dressed John

Barak Plays It Too Safe … With Fashion!
Byline: Patricia Towle/ May 26, 2009
Q & A with John Reed, (aka/ Sharp Dressed John), on-air, web content producer for the TV morning show South Florida.Com (WSFL-TV) -- and sartorial barometer of men’s fashion.
How did you get your moniker Sharp Dressed John?
I used to be an account executive for South Florida’s ‘The Beat’ (radio station 103.5) and always wore a suit. One day the president of Clear Channel Miami called out, ‘Hey, sharp dressed John…’ The name stuck. Some call me SDJ.
Describe your style.
My style is innovative—with a hint of entertainment and charisma – in keeping with my edgy, but soft spoken, personality.
One of your favorite collections is Giovanni Marquez, whose retail and national headquarters are in South Florida. What’s your favorite thing in his line?
My favorite thing in Gio’s collection is his three-piece suits. You got be a three-piece man in order to be sharp.
How did you stumble onto Giovanni Marquez?
This is a funny story. When I was selling ads for the radio station, I went to ‘FSB’, his men’s store in Boynton Beach, Fl., and tried to sell him an ad. He ignored me. I don’t know if he even remembers that.I only lasted six months at the sales job. But Giovanni landed me as a lifelong customer.
What is the worst style faux pas that guys make?
Men who wear striped suits with striped shirts. I see it all the time and it’s wrong, WRONG.
In one word, how do you feel about the following:
· Kilts Interesting…
· White socks Necessary…
· Pants worn rapper style Dumb…
· Beanies Focused….
· Nylon sweat suits Old school…
· Michael Jackson’s pagoda shouldered jackets Slick…
· Mickey Rourke Character…
· Steven Tyler’s (Aerosmith) Botox look Fake…
Who are this country’s best dressed male celebs?
Justin Timberlake and Kanye West.
Who in the public eye is best in need of a makeover?
Charles (‘Sir Charles’) Barkley.
Do you think American Idol inspires male fashion in a good or a bad way?
Definitely bad. The contestants are influenced by the sponsors to wear only boring basics.
Name one thing you will add to your summer wardrobe?
A bow tie. I will wear it whenever I can and wherever it’s appropriate.
Should women give their men style makeovers?
Never. Women have different taste than men. They may pick out something cute, but it’s not necessarily the right style for their man – or the look he’s going for.
Has President Obama had an influence on men’s fashion?
Absolutely. Barak is always clean cut, but he doesn’t wear a tie that often. That casual look has started to trickle down from the White House. We are seeing more and more men in nice blazer jackets with no ties. Everyone copies the President. I believe Barak plays it too safe when it comes to fashion. I wish he’d take more risks. He needs to fancy it up a notch.
In the late 1800’s, writer Mark Twain coined the phrase, ‘clothes make the man’. Does that sentiment hold true today?
Definitely. People judge you on first perception. First time they see you they are looking at your clothes and how you carry yourself.
Is it wrong to judge a man by what he wears?
It is definitely wrong -- but our time is short and often we only have a few seconds in which to create an opinion.
Is it true that Naked people have little or no influence on society?
That is true…
